The question we never thought, that’s actually really hard to answer.

If you want to see a show of people crying, you can go to the train station. Then find a couple in which one of them has a large bag in his hand, the other holds the other’s other hand, and 5 minutes before the train arrives, the show will begin. The cries and hugs are a must part of the show.

Stations or airports are always a place for saying goodbye. But of course, the station or airport can be an unexpected “saying hello”. On a Friday afternoon when He and his girlfriend were going on vacation, He met someone from a long time ago, before he met his girlfriend.

“Who is he?” His girlfriend asked, after the man had left because the train had arrived, “Is he your best friend?”

He saw that person in front of the train door, waiting in line to get in. He made sure the person was still there, then turned his face to his girlfriend, and asked “What time does our train arrive?”

“in 15 minutes.” said his girlfriend who is now focused on his cellphone. His girlfriend was busy with some tasks that she had to complete, so she didn’t really notice that her boyfriend didn’t answer her questions.

They will go on vacation for 2 days. They had planned this trip since last year, but they never found the right time. That’s why when he offered to go on a Friday afternoon, his girlfriend agreed, even though there were still unfinished tasks.

Last night his girlfriend tried to finish her assignment before leaving tomorrow. But in the morning when he woke up he saw his girlfriend asleep with the laptop still on. “I think we have to cancel it?” He stroked his girlfriend’s hair

“No..No” His girlfriend shook her head, “There’s a just a little more to do, I’ll finish before our train arrives.” His girlfriend promised.

He could only say okay and in his heart said “I’m sure the task won’t be finished when the train arrives. There are things that take longer than we can imagine.”

Their train arrived, they hoisted each of their medium-sized suitcases. Of course on the train, his girlfriend still had to be busy replying to some messages and e-mails. But it makes him able to be alone with his own thoughts.

“Who is he?” The question is still flying in his mind, even though he is basically an overthinking person.

Who is he?

What if he said that person was a friend? But, would that person also think the same thing? If that person thought he was not his friend, he would be very embarrassed.

But what if he is considered to be arrogant for not classifying that person as his friend? He really hates multiple choice questions, especially when all the choices make sense.

What exactly is the definition of a friend? To what extent a person can be classified as a friend? He’s sure if He asked 10 people the answers would be different. Maybe a friend is someone who gives us cheats on a math test, a friend is someone who has to go up a mountain together, Friend is a good person. Really the answer will come from the experience of each in the past. It’s really difficult for him to define a friend because he has a past.

He was still dumbfounded when his girlfriend shocked his body, from the start he kept looking at the window with a question in his mind.

“We have arrived.” His girlfriend said, It took his girlfriend 3 times to say the same thing until he… “Oh, yes .. yes” he said, stuttering.

“Where is our first destination?”

“Shall we go find something to eat? I’m really hungry.” His girlfriend’s job is now done.

“Okay, today I pay.” He took his suitcase and his girlfriend.

His girlfriend smiled. They then looked for a local place to eat that a friend had told them. Not many tourists know the place, a hidden gem.

It’s been years since that. They want to bring back memories of their adventure back then. And somehow, They met the same person again, right in the same chair and the girlfriend’s question was still the same. What a miracle.

“Who is he?” His girlfriend asked, after the man had left because the train had arrived, “Is he your best friend?”

He didn’t look for that person anywhere, whether he was still at the train door or already in, “An old friend.” he said, answering his girlfriend’s question.

“Ooh,” her boyfriend said, “how do you guys know?”

“We were classmates…” He told his girlfriend about them.

Yes, that’s right, now he can easily answer that question. The moment where it came was very simple, no magical events, no adventure between life and death, no motivation from anyone. It was only one not hot afternoon when he was sitting without his cell phone, he realize that “He will say that person is a friend if he thinks that person is a friend. If that person does not think of the same way, he is now just don’t give a fuck, that’s all. He realized he wasn’t very good at guessing people’s feelings.”

It’s really a very simple thing and he wished he knew that thing earlier, not 10 years later. But time, aging and life lessons are the key (probably). Yes it is true, some things take longer than we can imagine.
